Northwood Maple

The Northwood Maple, Acer rubrum 'Northwood', is an excellent shade tree with ascending branches and a round, oval form. The dark green summer foliage turns orange to red in the fall. This maples is easily grown in well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. It is tolerant of a wide range of soils, but requires moist, slightly acid conditions for optimum growth and color. It is very cold hardy. Reaching an height of 50 feet and a width of 35 feet, it is an excellent specimen tree for the lawn, street or park. It is important to know that this tree has a shallow, flattened root system that may buckle nearby sidewalks or driveways if planted too close. ... more info
